Clean Energy Career Expo, with University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati State Students (off site at the University of Cincinnati)
The National Hydropower Association (NHA) and the Hydropower Foundation are partnering to help the hydropower community connect with university students in the Cincinnati area who could be your future employees.

To make this happen, the Hydropower Foundation has worked with the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati State University to organize a Clean Energy Career Expo on the campus of the University of Cincinnati (in Lindner Hall in the College of Business).

Students walking through the Expo will be looking for internships, co-ops, or entry-level full-time positions. NOTE: at the University of Cincinnati, all engineering students are required to complete a co-op, so they are actively seeking spots for the upcoming summer.

Join the more than 10 hydro organizations who have already signed up to participate! Reach out to Bree Mendlin at the Hydropower Foundation at bree@hydrofoundation.org for details and to reserve a table for your organization.

Networking Reception/Dinner for Operations and Technical Professionals, organized by NHA Hydropower Technical Community (HTC)
This informal, casual evening at the Moerlein Lager House, right across the street from the Cincinnati Reds ballpark, features plenty of opportunity to enjoy each other’s company, network, roam around, talk to lots of fellow attendees, and enjoy substantial food and drink.

Join this fun “community” networking activity among those who work on the operational/technical/dam safety side of the hydropower business.

It’s also a good way to share with each other about what you do related to operational excellence, dam safety, and/or project operations and maintenance, in preparation for the event’s Friday morning workshops, tours, and NHA member meetings.
The casual reception/dinner is organized by NHA’s Hydropower Technical Community (HTC).

This ticketed event ($150; $100 for employees of NHA member organizations) is open to all Clean Current attendees.

Through its Hydropower Technical Community (HTC), NHA offers employees of member organizations a variety of ongoing opportunities and collaborative tools for benchmarking and exchange of critical information related to the technical and environmental aspects of operating hydroelectric projects.

How to Sign Up for Ticketed Events

Purchase tickets for any of the ticketed events during the registration process. If you are already registered and want to add one or more ticketed events to your registration, please use this link to log in to your existing registration.

  • You will need to log in using the email address associated with your registration and your Registrant ID or Confirmation Code (both can be found within your confirmation email, but if you cannot find either please email registration@hydro.org)
  • Once logged in you can edit/update your registration, add items to your registration and submit payment via credit card.

Networking Tip #1

  • It’s always beneficial to arrive early and stay late during Clean Currents 2023.
  • Being present in the “off hours” allows you to arrange meetings and have conversations with influential people in the field.
  • You can review the agenda ahead of time to plan your days.
  • You may also want to rethink how you use your breaks. Many people spend the time in between presentations checking in with their office, but this is one of the best times to make connections.
  • Don’t dismiss the social activities—networking receptions and happy hours — as some of the best networking takes place at these events.
  • You may also want to consider having dinner with fellow waterpower professionals to network.

Networking Tip #2

As you meet colleagues, presenters, and future collaborators during Clean Currents 2023, be prepared with a 30-second elevator pitch: share who you are, what you do, and why you are attending.

Be sure to tailor your pitch to the people you are meeting – and even consider preparing multiple elevator pitches for different audiences.

And of course, don’t forget to bring plenty of business cards!
